She puts ketchup on hot dogs This is if I offend anyone I'm sorry, but I never did that is not okay never did that until My kids for some reason did that somewhere down the line and now you do it. I don't know. Okay, I rather not I like the podcast No, I'm a good mustard mustard on a hot dog ketchup on a burger Yeah, that's the way it works, but it has been it has been on my hot dog. So she she likes that So she's putting ketchup on the on the white hot. She she gives a hunk to baby Josie and baby Josie's like mmm spits it out. Yeah, and But she spits it out clean, right? So she's taking the she likes ketchup And I'm like, she's like, oh It must she just doesn't like the whites. I'm like, no, that's not it. I'm like you put ketchup on it She's like, well, what do you mean? I'm like, I take I tear off a piece of the hot dog with no ketchup I put I pop it in baby Josie's mouth and she goes Proceeds to eat the rest of the hot dog This Is the gray hair and daycare podcast with a combined age of 111 years and a combined IQ right in that same range

We couldn't get to everything last week So we're back to finish up the job and get you all caught up so thanks for sticking with us and coming back for the rest of episode 3 So now this is one we have not done in a while the last time was March 5th So the last time we did this was on baby Josie's first birthday. That's right So that's April May June a little more than three months for the diaper diet This is this is gonna be big okay, so if you recall because we do this so infrequently I Wanted to loop when we found out that Kelly was pregnant. I wanted to lose weight and so we set up this contest where I would try to lose weight as Kelly gained weight and then continue to lose weight as she lost the baby weight so she gets points for Every pound she gained and every pound she has since lost. Okay. I only get points for losing weight so At the last time we did this. She was ahead by I Think yeah, almost 20 pounds. So the gap was 19.8 So so she had gained and lost 19.8 pounds more than I had been able to lose in the same amount of time. Okay, so now but it's been three months and

Well, yeah, I asked I told you today I thought you looked up thinner and I seen her a couple weeks ago and she looked almost normal again I'm gonna say you were at 19.8 difference, right? She was 19.8 pounds ahead ahead I think and so if you lost more the numbers would be yes, it's gonna be I would close the gap Yes, it'd be like like 17. Yes, exactly. Okay, I think you lost. Okay, and then but she's losing weight, too I'm gonna say you I think you you're getting closer. You're closing the gap. I'm gonna say I'm gonna say 89 89 18.9 the new gap is 13 oh my god or 13 for so Since in the last three months Kelly has lost two pounds. Okay over the last three months. I have lost 8.4 So I've had a good three months. Yeah, so Since the beginning of the pregnancy. So from when we started when I said we were gonna start this I Am down just over thirty point five thirty point six pounds So I am now I'm now the lowest I've been Since you know, well since we found out she was pregnant look you did look. Yeah, it's been it's been a high protein has helped Oh, yeah But yeah, I love it. I love it. I don't mind it at all the thing that is

4:45 The other side of it which we'll talk about later is some of the other side effects of having a being an older older dad Just some of the like I have been working out but I haven't in the last couple weeks because of some other stuff So but there is so with the diaper You really the close of the gap so I still but I still got to make up 13 more pounds, which means You know that and that's just if she stays at the weight. She's I was gonna say how much more does she have though? I mean, can she she's she's still she's still there struggling. Okay, I think She's at that point now though because we talked a little bit and the last episode about the kind of the challenges with Getting enough rest But would now with the baby sleeping through the night much more often. We'll talk about that now She's getting more rest and that's gonna allow Yeah, she's gonna I think she's gonna all of a sudden has her work changed like because she's she went from one way to work No, because when she worked when she worked in in the office she was sitting at a desk Yeah, so she and and she's she's kind of I didn't glued to that screen all day long which isn't which isn't ideal no But yeah, so there we are with the diaper Close the gap. I'm gonna keep I'm gonna keep pushing. I would love to this is I'm at the weight now That is like a wall at least for the last 15 years It's very hard for me to get under that it's not weird on you get that number because I struggle with I'll get to like

6:24 165 and It'll just bounce right back to 169 and it's like I can't right can't get that 163 and I know that sounds horribly. I mean one. I mean, I'm also five foot six You know, so I should be probably at one comfortably 160 is nice 165 so The only way I ever will get the 165 is with chemotherapy 165 was like Eighth grade. I remember I remember when I was we were leech beer and I was going to Italy that year And I was I was working out and I didn't want to go to Italy Because I knew I was probably gonna get a little bit away because I want to eat all the food and all this stuff And I remember at that moment. I weighed myself I was working out and I started running again. I think I was at 134. I was 25 years old, bro That's nice 29 waist 29 waist. Yeah. No for me. That would have been 185 that's tight and and I would have been like a 34 is that's the smallest I would ever I would ever be is that's when I died. Yeah That's about 34. I think You turn it on That's what I work hard But you're talking like having a party. Yeah, you're taller guys. Yeah So yeah, so that was it. So there is our diaper diet. Oh, you saw that too a little bit also Made me a little Comfortable Okay But it was nice it was a nice day we had a good time came so then the next day We ended up out at the boat. Uh-huh spent time The boat has all this stuff and you got to figure out where everything goes You got to get your stuff loaded on and all that so we spent We spent a nice afternoon because we didn't go out. We're just at the marina getting things set up Baby took took to right away took to the cabin. She had a nice naps very comfortable on the boat There's kind of discreet spaces that she Shade and all that yeah, so she it was very it was very nice. You're happy with it

9:34 Yes, so far. It's been yeah, it's been I've kind of learned to figure. Yeah, we gotta get I know you invited me It's we're summer's crazy. We're always so much everybody's But yeah, so we had a nice day there got things a little bit more set up and the good news is so we talked About I think at the last time we recorded she had had two nights of sleeping through the night. Yes. Yes. Yes That's what we let up since then 100% until last night Really? Yes Give me something to talk about Wake up in the middle of a podcast call No, you know what and and I think Kelly came to the conclusion this morning It was an unforced error because she is still with her teething And we have been giving her a little bit of the brand children's Tylenol, okay same thing At bedtime, okay to help and we she forgot to do that Ah, we put her to bed because you could tell when she woke up. It wasn't like she woke up and wanted attention She woke up with like the shrub the streaky cries that are typically and you know, what kind of cries now You know what your daughter son? I think yeah when I heard it. I'm like, yeah, it's a different. Yeah, it's a different thing Yeah, it's made such a difference. I think For the first week or so Kelly was almost worse Getting more sleep because her body was so used to running on a dry Getting it up. So she was super dopey for for all about a week

11:08 And now I think she's really back to her her usual Self, you know what the great thing is and you guys are gonna experience it. Okay It's gonna be that moment where oh my god, my my life is back to normal as whatever No, yes the sleeping the things that you right now you think I will never Right be normal again. I will never and that's coming and you're gonna love it You're gonna feel it and you're gonna remember it and it's eventually it's just gonna be a normal thing Yeah, I'll go to bed I wonder about that stuff as funny. I was taught one of my John Taylor who Johnny not from Duran Duran. He was a guest on the podcast many moons ago He's asking me today, are you if I was gonna get the news there's gonna be a new Grand Theft Auto I guess I guess coming out people are talking about and my answer to him was I haven't turned again. I have a ps5 I have I have not turned one of those on since the day the baby was born I haven't played I used to play video games. Occasionally. I didn't spend a lot of time, but no No, there's none of that speaking about that. I just went away this weekend Okay, and the family that we met with a couple that we met on our honeymoon Okay, they got married the same day same hour same day and same everything They happen to sit at our table at the on your honeymoon cruise and we've been friends for 28 years

12:39 right, so we went bit the youngest graduate from college and Bob shout-out to Bob and Holly he goes tonight. We're gonna play Grand Theft Auto. I've never played it Okay, he has never played it. No, right and Holic, so I I was in the room I laid down for a second because we had a pool time whatever and I heard people laughing So I walked in there and I saw Trina playing Grand Theft Auto Which we don't play games up and the funniest thing is to watch your wife Get out of a car and beat a prostitute up is hilarious I'm like, what are you doing?

13:19 Stomping out a cop or what? That's what the game is about, right? They're like, oh, yeah, I stole the helicopter and we went shopping So that that's fun that you bring that up, yeah, yeah, he was wondering if I was gonna be getting the latest version I've never played that game. Mostly I would play like racing games. Yeah, I like that stuff. But yeah, there's none of that There's none of that happening. But anyway, so she's doing much better with the sleeping. That's been very nice. She's really She had multiple of those walkers like we had one you got you guys got her one for her birthday I think her first birthday. She goes cruising around that thing. She's really cooking dangerous on that What's dinner is now? She's gotten more confident. She's at it. So the other day she Kelly was to clean up a little bit after dinner She's like keep an eye on her and as soon as she says I'm like, yeah I got her and she's like and then she turns around looks at me smiles and then just flips over backwards The thing lands on her. Oh my god lands on it. She hit she bonked her head when she fell Oh my lord, she's standing. She's starting to balance but then she loses her balance and that thing doesn't weigh anything So it just came over but yeah, so she's had a lot more little but like that first time on the boat She's on the on the like in the v-berth and then all of a sudden bonk and there's she hit her head So she's gotten she's gotten a couple of little box. Yeah, and it's gonna be okay Is she can you tell a difference between how she was before now that she's sleeping the whole night through it?

I think yeah I think she took a little bit of an adjustment too, but we're also going through that time of where Now that she's sleeping through the night We're also trying to get her to just one nap instead of two So there's a little bit of confusion with that too, but I think definitely in the morning When she wakes up and she has had a full night's sleep. She's just she's always happy smiley little girl But she's really she's just like ready to take the day. Yeah, she's super happy We decide I decided it would be a good time summertime now We're getting outside and she loves like the time the most common Thing that makes her cry isn't is when she when we have to go inside She loves being outside. She wants to be outside Doing stuff. So I'm like we need a swing. We gotta get a swing You gotta get that backyard swing. So I ordered a swing that we could put up We have a very nice locust tree that has a perfect branch. Oh right in the backyard I'm like, I'm gonna get a tree swing So we put that out there and she is she is we were the first time we put her in it It was kind of late in the day almost every night after dinner We take a walk around and she's by getting tired by then We tried her out the first time and she didn't seem like she was too excited So now we're getting her there a little earlier taking her out during the day and she's starting to really love it She particularly likes because it's like two chains up to the branch

It's like one of the ones that It's like a green bucket with So she's pretty secure in there. I want to say we had that. I don't know why Trina again somebody we had that the bucket thing It looks like the ones you see it every every park and it has made me think about There is one we have one apple tree and our orchard that has kind of a hollow in it and a couple branches that were low, but I could make a tree house In that tree and I've been every time we every night we go for a walk and every night. I sit there and go It's all I wanted every kid want. I mean I started everybody Everybody had it the Brady Bunch had a yeah at a tree house every show Didn't leave it the beaver have a tree house everybody had a tree house That's all I want as a kid have my own little tree house. My father was a carpet I mean Casket and he was a casket maker make it look like anything. Just give me a tree house He's going up there at night it was a factory second, yeah but nothing yet, so You gotta That would be a fun project. I would like that. I would like you got to make it enough where we can hang out

17:57 Wish I had a tree that would be perfect for a big like a big old or something But the apple tree may do we'll see but she likes she likes the trees the tree swing That's been a lot of fun Then we got actually got out on the boat Finally and She has taken to it very very nicely we went out. She likes the whole boat experience Yeah, and I hear a butt coming. Oh, no Well, there is a little okay, so there's this thing so there is a again the boat is a ranger tug and there is a online forum that is like a Club for owners of ranger tags, and it's called pug nuts and There so I'm always looking at it because people like that might do modifications or have questions and This guy had posted a picture There's a there's the helm seat, and then there's a seat on the port side next to it That's just like a one-person seat, but he had the picture He was talking about something else he did but everybody who saw the picture asked about this one He had a booster seat that fit on that seat perfectly And he said he had put that there for his grandchild so He listed where he got it, so I've ordered one because it's perfect because when we're docking or something We can put her in there, and she's in and she can't escape and then Kelly can be free to step off the boat while I'm docking So she's not a big fan of be it so she'll stay in it for a while, but if we take too long

19:31 Yeah, she doesn't want to be in there. Well. That's cool. It is definitely yes So she she likes that now she has her little drawer in the cabin with full of all of her toys And we did get I think at some point or another. I'll bring it home from the boat so we can do a So we can do a crash test daddy. Uh-huh there is a company called Sea Rock This is awesome. It was my nickname Searock Searock is They make and you can get them customized which we did boat swings for toddlers so it's like So you can literally hang it from the from the canopy in the back of the boat It's white and it's in hers has her name baby Josie Embroidered on it and and we got her one of those and she likes that too. Oh my god When we're anchored up we can't do well underway But what will anchor up somewhere if we're tied up somewhere we can put her in there And she's right there kind of where we are It's awesome awesome the Sea Rock is cool and she just loves the water which led us to Costco and they have these kiddie pools and I thought well we should you know we should get our kid, but she loves being she loves the water. She's It's so of course now. There's there's a couple choices at Costco Myself I leaned immediately in the direction of the one that has a 12 foot tall inflatable dragon And a slide and all that but my lovely wife as she often does is

Like my tree, I mean her tree house yes the tree house is awesome But so we got that we filled it up, and she loves it of course Of course baby of course so does so does Rumpel Rumpel gets Runs around in there You know they don't mind it at all Watson does not like the water So he doesn't get in but Rumpel will get in there But yeah, so she and she loves the again only time she complains is that you're taking her out of the Fun you're doing yeah boats and swings and pools, then you want to take her inside to sleep. Yeah, that's right It is boring inside right. That's a baby. Come on. I already want to do that It's true, so yeah, so she's loving that she's definitely and gonna enjoy summer you can tell she is an outdoor She's an outdoor baby outdoor kid got out one Father's Day was very nice We did thank you we did two things we got a very nice card from you and Trina Thank you. We decided instead of doing some on Father's Day. We were gonna go out on the boat so the night before We took a drive out to skinny Atlas and drove around have you ever heard of?

22:29 Hidden fish I have not hidden fish is a very nice It's owned. It's a partnership between a guy. I know Jeff Noss and Adam Weitzman You know who that is they don't they own like almost every restaurant skinny Alice But the hidden fish is a little bit off the main drag there in the village, but it's a sushi place and it is Fantastic we had we had a nice couple little appetizers And then I I had I had three rolls Kelly had the biggest Serving of salmon, I've ever seen really like a broiled salmon It was gigantic And it looked it was delicious I tried a little bit the sushi rolls I had a volcano roll Philly and California roll and The volcano was the best walking. I've ever had now. What's if I can't what's crap? What's in there? It's crabbing and An avocado and then but then it has this like creamy Topping that they put before I was fantastic. The only downside is chopsticks Because the volcano rose messy, so you had a guy I kind of had to use He kind of had to use or you look like you look like a sandwich surprised you haven't mastered that No, because I always like I never

24:03 Too hard, but yeah, so we went to dinner and it was really really good. I was never been there hidden fish Wonderful. It was we went we went kind of early, but the baby had a great time. She was in a great mood did really well She had some of the salmon. She had some of the appetizers because we had like a wagyu Wagyu beef appetizer and then we had what is it when they fry the stuff like a tempura vegetable tempura Which was great like a half a pepper fry. It was really good a very nice Father's Day meal I was happy and then the next day we went out and what we typically do we were out on the boat we anchor up I Cook up some hot dogs, and I thought this was fun kind of funny because there is that There's the pictures and figuring out. Who does she look like?

I think Kelly might Nudge the baby in the direction of liking what she likes and not liking what she doesn't like and so we're having hot dogs and now being from Buffalo Kelly is Salons she has to have salons hot dogs, so she likes reds. Yeah, they don't want to mess with anybody else's hot dog I Like Hoffman's hot dogs, and I like Connie's I like the whites so I like white hot Kelly does not like them now this time. We were out on the boat. We only had whites We didn't have rats, so I cook them up on the grill Well no, but we're eating and and I hear and she's she's got baby Josie on her side of the little dinette Uh-huh, and she's putting now. 28:09 and then this the ice we started looking at the pictures like we talked about and and And I think it's funny because you can go back at different times there's but we've been looking at pictures, and I'll be There shall be and you'll have a picture of one of us or one of One of Kelly's siblings or one of my siblings and be like look like it's really But right now she does I think she favors. She's favoring me a little bit You can just you can see a little a little bit in the eyes And it was fun to see what I thought was funny was there's this picture of me like my father holding me kind of like I do With her and I'm looking at my dad again again in my head. I always thought my dad was old But in this picture my dad is 10 years younger than you than I am now, and I'm and I'm a little older and I'm thinking to myself I like though that generation It's really really like they yeah, they had a rough life in a rough I did a lot of things to take care of before yeah vanity Like World War two I think a those years aged top age the whole planet about twice as fast as Yeah, cuz you look at it like you can see it was like yeah, this guy something. He was he was like 40 He's probably 48. Yeah, so he's eight years younger than I am now and and he looks

29:40 He looks 10 years older So but the best generation, but the oldest agree to the greatest generation, and they're all this looking But it's interesting Fashion's different haircuts, and yeah, and the clothes you know I guess there's all those Have you ever seen like there's these videos that they do especially now with AI? It'll be like the golden girls if they were today Yes, and they'll give them like modern haircuts and modern makeup, and they look you know they look 10 years young They look younger. Yeah, yeah So but yeah, so it's interesting the other the other big update with the baby Which I think is a good sign is all of a sudden there's been an uptick in in Volume with how much she's eating her appetite. She's eating a lot Discovering new things now. She's yeah. Oh, yeah, no. She's super interested in everything always trying to figure things out Which is fun and and watching her do that and she's always she really loves Helping when we were setting up Oh, yeah, we're setting up to record and I had to plug in a couple cables, and I'm like hold the cable And I'll do stuff, okay, oh, yeah, she came down with me, and then I'm like I need the cable she gives me the cable She's always she loves she loves being involved and helping and it's so cool. It's just a little pale my little It's the best it's the best it. There's nothing yeah, there's nothing like I want I want I went on a trip

31:10 I went on a work trip last week, and I went with my son Nicholas It was so cool, that's good. It was so cool, and I I was on stage and I Referred to him. I like I was talking about my kids. I go. I brought one today. It's nice Yeah, I said that's I spent because you know whenever you travel for work you travel with a child, but But yeah, no it was it's nice, and it was Father's Day weekend, so it's kind of cool That's like okay I get to be on the road do what I like, but then my son's with me He gets to see all the he gets he gets to be treated like all the stories I said all they took out to the restaurant All that and feel it and he loved it So all I know is it's a I've heard already twice from my sister That she's been to the diner where your son works, and how nice he is he's like. He's so nice. I'm like Yeah, he's good Yeah, and it's good to see and it's also good to see Natalia now back to work back to work. We missed him We have a broken ankle and then you get yeah, so Everything's okay right now. That's good. That's the way you want it This is where exactly you want parenthood where everything's just like okay My son called me today, and I'll tell you my oldest you'll have many years of this But you'll start getting phone calls from your kids, and it's always worried. You're always worried, right?

There's very little But I do I don't know if we talked about it last time, but like with me playing with Playing with the baby and give it like tossing around yes. Yeah, it's so funny the level of tolerance for Kelly Seeing that she can't even oh my god. She can't look at it And I'm like just put her up there You know let her sit there, and we'll take her picture. No she could fall like it's totally different. Yeah, we It's good. It's good that balance

34:04 It's a good balance because otherwise she would live in a bubble and it wasn't possible like your neighbor And I would probably do something that leaves her with a scar So it's good to have the masculine and the feminine that's right at work at the same time But that is pretty much that is pretty much everything we are caught up It feels like it took a lot less time this time because we didn't have quite as much as if we did this every week We're not gonna talk about yeah Yes, that's it she had it we'd go over her entire meal plan It'd just be one day everything down to the no we don't know we won't have that but but it was nice It's been nice. I'm look. We're looking forward to enjoying the rest of the summer Yeah, it was way too fast so Yeah, we'll be coming up on Next week 4th of July. Yeah, we'll be out from the fireworks.
