A Gen X First Time Father and The Madness of Dadness

Welcome to the official home of the 111-year-old parenting experiment.

I’m Frank Cerio, your host, producer, and the guy currently wondering if "Gen Beta" is a baby generation or a new type of blood pressure medication. I started The Gray Hair & Daycare Podcast because I realized that being a dad in your fifties is a very specific kind of endurance sport. While most of my Gen X peers are busy planning for retirement, I’m busy planning for the next nap—mostly mine.

If you’re looking for a parenting podcast for dads that feels like a support group with better punchlines, you’ve found it. We specialize in parenting comedy for those of us who have more silver in our hair than patience in our souls.

Meet the "Brain Trust"

To keep me from accidentally mailing the baby to the wrong daycare, I’ve brought along my lifelong friend and "Parenting Coach," Carlo Russo.

Carlo is the high-energy, veteran perspective to my analytical, slightly-terrified "late bloomer" vibe. At 56, he’s already survived raising kids to adulthood—he’s a father of two grown boys, so he’s got all the fatherhood tips and a healthy dose of "I told you so" ready to go at all times.

When he isn’t telling me that I’m doing everything wrong, he’s a professional comedian and half of the massive Uncle Louie Variety Show. He brings a level of dad humor to the table that only a guy who has spent decades on stage (and in the trenches of dad life) can provide.

Together, we have a combined age of 111 years and a combined IQ... well, let's just say it’s in the same neighborhood.

What We Offer (Besides Exhaustion)

This show is a place for older dads (and anyone else who feels 100 years old by 8:00 PM) to find some much-needed humor in life. On each episode, we dive into:

  • Funny Parenting: Real stories about the absurdity of navigating the playground when people assume you’re the grandfather.

  • New Dad Advice & Baby Advice: From "Crash Test Daddy" product reviews to surviving the dreaded "Dad Brain," we offer fatherhood advice that is actually practical (or at least hilarious).

  • Parent Advice for the Modern World: We take "expert" articles and deep-dive into them during our "Book Report" segment, usually concluding that the experts have no idea what they’re talking about.

  • The "I Was Wrong" Segment: Where I’m forced to admit—on the record—all the times my wife, Kelly, was right. (It’s a long segment).

Whether you’re here for parenting strategies or just to hear a fellow dad complain about how hard it is to get out of a beanbag chair, we’re glad you’re here. Fatherhood is a wild ride, and we’re documenting every messy, magical, and knee-popping step of the way.
